It’s actually pretty commendable that a British publication would place a grungy, American alternative song above anything from their homeland. It’s better than anything The Beatles ever wrote in fact, the Fab Four don’t even crack the top 10. Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is the greatest song of all time. According to the British mag, the list was compiled from NME writers past and present, where “each individual was asked to submit a list of their top 50 songs. NME has done it again, following up last year’s list of the Top 500 Albums of All Time with one for the Top 500 Songs of All Time.
